Not being from Caledon initially, I had to learn their circumlocutious way of speaking which, all things considered, was often more of a challenge than interpreting your colorful language.Rhianon Jamesonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13627163137265856251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2265659668411443893.post-17373827221239395152009-07-01T09:05:56.443-07:002009-07-01T09:05:56.443-07:00The accents didn't put me off at all - to tell...The accents didn't put me off at all - to tell the tale you need to give the players avoice that fits otherwise everyone would sound like Hugh Grant :)HeadBurro Antfarmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10855762117761362578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2265659668411443893.post-75140408651451882032009-07-01T06:20:50.747-07:002009-07-01T06:20:50.747-07:00thanks HB, I hope you found this dose of Bu satisf...thanks HB, I hope you found this dose of Bu satisfactory.

I also hope that most people don't find the use of dialect and vernacular to be annoying or offensive. I tried very hard to make Bu's lines convey the idea that he was not entirely conversant with the English language, but to hopefully not descend into the realm of the cartoonish with some variation of "Rook! It is Godzirra!"

But at least with a story on the printed or electronic page, if someone doesn't like how I write they can simply skip it and go off to eat their baloney sandwich on white bread with mayonnaise, or whatever they care to do.

The language we use in-world is of course a different matter entirely. I have noted that the lovely Miss Eugenia has brought up some interesting questions on her blog about the issue of accents and dialects used conversationally and/or in RP. I think we're going to need to chat about that a little bit here as well before long.Diohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266713613721430111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2265659668411443893.post-41885895586098666702009-07-01T02:49:15.691-07:002009-07-01T02:49:15.691-07:00"A crisis is an opportunity riding the danger..."A crisis is an opportunity riding the dangerous wind"

What a wonderful recounting of such, dare I say, exciting event. Of course I'd terribly saddened by the loss of such a fine beast as Bu's mule (donkeys being, in my opinion, among the noblest of all beasts) I'm buoyed up in the knowledge that the little scrotum who caused all the fuss met with a repetitively violent end.

And I've always been of the mind that the sex of a person never comes into whether they are fit to be tooled up - as long as they are on the same side as me, it's all good :)

OOC: excellent work writing so much in the 'accent' and vernacular!HeadBurro Antfarmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10855762117761362578noreply@blogger.com
